LA394 CSA #2e Paterson Stone Y Light Milky Blue (4-Margin with a light corner crease at the upper right) tied by the small single rim Port Hudson, La CDS (no date). Addressed to Mrs. M. E. Pratt, Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama. Very minor light foxing at the lower left, but still a Very Fine cover with a very nice stamp. Ex-Judd with his note on the back.

The cover was sent by 1st Lieut Merrill Edward Pratt (1828-1889) of  Co K 1st Ala Inf home to his wife. Most of the 1st Ala Inf was captured at Island #10 in April 1862 and exchanged in September 1862. That would date this cover to late 1862. After exchange, the regiment was assigned to Port Hudson. The Pratt family of Prattville, Ala., was involved in the cotton gin business. The letters of the Pratt family 1824-1903 have been published.
