CSA #62x4 Horz Pair 5c Red-Brown New Orleans Provisional on Bluish Paper (margin tight at the bottom) tied by the New Olreans, La CDS
with an early DEC 1861 date. Folded two page printed circular dealing
with commodity prices in New Orleans as of Saturday, November 30, 1861.
Also contains a business letter on a blank page which accounts for the
10c postage rate over 500 miles rather than the circular rate. The
letter is datelined "New Orleans Nov 30, 1861." Addressed to Mess
Cummins Edwards & Co., Memphis, Tenn. Central vertical file fold
not involving the stamps. Very clean cover and an interesting business
circular early in the war from the Confederacy's largest city. |
