USA Star Die with the New Orleans, La CDS 18 APR (1861) USA Used in CSA Louisiana. Addressed to Mr. James P. Boyce, Greenville, South Carolina. Period receiving docketing at the left. Minor edge repairs at top not affecting anything and few sealed back flap tears. Otherwise a very clean appearing cover. James Petigru Boyce (1827-1888) was a prominent Southern Baptist Pastor and a co-founder of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary which opened in 1859 in Greenville SC. Rev Boyce served in the Confederate Army as the Chaplain of the 16th SC Inf Nov 1861 - May 1862.
