CSA #62x4 5c Red-Brown on Bluish Paper New Orleans Provisional two singles (plated as Positions 6 & 7) paying the 10c rate Trans-Mississippi to North Carolina (one stamp is 4-Margin and the other stamp has the margin touching at the bottom) tied together and to the cover by the New Orleans, La CDS 12 OCT (1861). Addressed to L. Thompson Esqr, Hotel, Bertie Cty, N. Ca. The original letter remains with the cover which is a one page business letter concerning the sugar market. Back flap opening tears and a small sealed edge tear at thetop center, otherwise a very clean cover. Ex-Bartels with his note on the back dated Dec 1926.
