KY42 Stampless Soldiers Due cover with the usual weak but recognizable strike of the Columbus, Ky CDS and manuscript "Due 5". The Columbus manuscipt "Due 5" is overstruck with a handstamp DUE 5 applied enroute when the cover transitted Memphis, Ten (Memphis Type G DUE 5 handstamp). Mail from CSA occupied Kentucky generally was routed through Memphis. Addressed to Mrs. E. P. Worthington Care of Dr. W. W. Worthington, Eggs Point, Miss. Eggs Point was an obscure USA listed post office in Washington County, Mississippi, but is not listed in the CSA Catalog and is not listed as a CSA post office. Soldier's endorsement "E. T. Worthington Bolivar Troop 1st Battalion of Miss Cavalry." Very Fine cover. Ex Van Dyk MacBride with his unsigned note on the back and signed by Brian Green.

Edward T. Worthington (1840-1902) served as a Sergt in the 1st Battalion Mississippi Cavalry. The unit was in Kentucky in late 1861 and early 1862. No further information. The addressee was Sergt Worthington's mother, Elizabeth Payne Worthington (1818-1911). Dr. William Waring Worthington (1802- 1886), Sergt Worthington's father, built the Belmont Plantation Mansion in Washington County, Mississippi, in 1857.
