GA973 CSA #1 appears to be Stone 1 (not plated) (4-Margin affixed sideways) tied by the Milledgeville, Ga CDS (date not apparent). Addressed to Mrs. Emily L. Carter Care of Mrs. H. M. Colquitt, Macon, Geo. The Carter and Colquitt families of Macon, Geo were related. Macon was also the hometown of CSA General Alfred Holt Colquitt. Most likely Mrs. H. M. Colquitt in the address was a relative of the general. At the time of this cover, A. H. Colquitt was the Colonel of the 6th Ga Inf prior to his promotion to Brig-Gen later in 1862. Very clean cover with a nice stamp and a sealed backflap opening tear. $225.00
