GA871 CSA #6xu6 Atlanta, Ga Handstamp PAID 10 Provisional 22 SEP 1861.  Military Address to Capt Benj C. Yancey, Fulton’s Dragoons, Col T. R. R. Cobb’s Geo Legion, Yorktown, Virginia. Cover is Crown listed as ATL-108.  Benjamin Cudsworth Yancey (1818-1891), Minister to Argentina under President Buchanan, was Capt of Co B Cavalry Battalion of Cobb’s Legion and promoted Major 11/15/1861. Col Thomas Reade Rootes Cobb (1823-1862), brother of Howell Cobb, was promoted Brig-Gen 11/1/1862 and was killed defending the Sunken Road at Fredericksburg (Va) 12/13/1862. Very clean appearing cover with bold strikes of the postal markings. Very well matched corner repair at the upper right which does not affect any of the postal markings. Part of backflap replaced with a mismatch which does not affect an overall Very Fine appearance. $800.00
