Adversity Cover made from a printed unused Telegraph Form of the Cern Telegraph Company from Lynchburg, Virginia displayed flapped down from the top. Addressed to Mrs. S. J. Howard, Lexington, Ga. Very clean cover. Ex-Kramer.

The cover was sent by Pvt Thomas J. Howard (1831-1902), a farmer from Oglethorpe County, home to his wife in Lexington, Georgia. Pvt Howard was serving in the 12th Ga Heavy Artillery which was organized in Augusta, Ga., in May 1862. No specifics on his service record, but after the war he returned to his farm in Oglethorpe County.
