CSA #12c Greenish-Blue (4-Margin) tied by a partial strike of the Atlanta, Ga CDS 2 JUN. Addressed to Mrs. Tho (Thomas) E. King Care of J M. Green MD, Macon, Georgia. Advertising Cover with fancy corner card in black "P. P. Pease, Wholesale Grocer and Commission Merchant, Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Ga." Very clean cover. Ex-Dr. Warren, Ex-Kaufmann. James Mercer Green MD (1815-1881), an 1837 graduate of the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, practiced medicine pre-war in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. During the war, he served the Confederacy as an Army Surgeon (PACS) for the duration of the war in various assignments. At the time of this cover, he was Surgeon-in-Charge at the General Hospital in Macon. No information on the addressee who very likely was a relative of Dr. Green.
