GA1273 CSA #4 Stone 3 Position 14 (margins tight left and bottom) tied by the Big Shanty (Ga) Straight Line postmark June 22 (1862). Addressed to Col R. D. Winn, Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co., Georgia. This is quite a scarce straight line postmark with perhaps only a dozen or so covers recorded (most with the 5c Blue Lithograph) recorded by Conrad Bush in the 1990's. A few more covers have come to light since then. Ex-Bleuler Very Fine.

He served as a justice of the Inferior Court of Gwinnett County, as a member of the Georgia State Legislature, and as a delegate to the Georgia Secession Convention. He had four sons who served in the Confederate Army all of whom survived the war. The title of "Colonel" was honorary.
