At left "49th Ga Regiment,Thomas' Brigade, Pender's Division." Adversity Cover made from what appears to be a printed page which is a review flyer of a journal about the historical aspect of the Bible. Clean appearing cover which has been folded out for display.

Ivy (Ivey) Walker Duggan (1831-1917) entered service as a private in the 15th Ga Inf in July 1861. In October 1862, he transferred to the 49th Ga Inf as the Quartermaster Sergt and served the remainder of the war with that unit. He was highly educated and taught at various Georgia schools after the war. His papers and letters are archived at Emory University in Atlanta.
