Stampless PAID 5 cover with the Brunswick, Ga CDS and handstamp PAID 5 Type B 2 JAN (1862). Adversity use of an envelope with a pre-printed business address to Messers Kinney & Co., Savannah, Geo. The pre-printed address is lined through and then re-addressed to Miss Janice Clopton Care Maj. Hazlehurst, Waynesville, Wayne Co., Geo.  Minor back flap opening tears and some minor edge wear, otherwise a very clean cover. Maj Leighton W. Hazlehurst (1821-1882) was a wealthy planter in Wayne County, Georgia. No record of his ever serving in the Confederate Army. So the title is either pre-war, a state rank, or most likely honorary.
