(4-Margin) tied by the large single rim Augusta, Ga
CDS (date not fully apparent but most likely 2 DEC 1864). This is not
the usual large single rim Augusta postmark. This is the newer postmark
put into service in late 1864 with "Ga" on the rim and used with violet
ink This strike is clearly black and used before the violet ink
was put into service. This Augusta postmark is rarely seen struck
in black. From the well-known Manigault
