Stampless Thomaston, Ga CDS 8 NOV (1861) handstamp PAID 5 Type C. Orange paper cover with Military Address to Mr. James H. Rogers, 5th Georgia Regiment, Care Capt Horsley, Pensacola, Fla. James H. Rogers entered service as the 1st Sergt of Co K 5th Ga Inf (later an Army of Mississippi and Army of Tennessee unit) 5/11/1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieut 4/19/1862 and promoted Captain later in 1862. He resigned due to disability 10/31/1862. William G. Horsely (d1913) entered service as Capt of Co K 5/11/1861. He resigned 12/21/1863 with no reason given. Clean cover with a small reduction at the right where the cover was opened.
