GA1125 CSA #12 (AD) Horz Pair paying overweight postage on a business size cover (margins tight) tied by two strikes of the small double circle Macon, Ga CDS (date not apparent). From the Louis Manigault Correspondence addressed to Mrs. Louis Manigault, (Key Box 32 PO), Augusta, Georgia. Louis Manigault was a member of a prominent South Carolina and Georgia planter family descended from French Huguenots. During the war, he served as secretary to CSA Surgeon Major Joseph Jones and accompanied Dr. Jones on an inspection of the Andersonville prison in 1864. The cover is oversized but is complete and very clean with a vertical file fold at the left. $150.00
