CSA #101xu1 Savannah, Ga PAID 5 Provisional with Control Mark partially struck off the cover 11 AUG 1861. Addressed to Mrs. Charles Olmstead Care Mrs L. Williams, Milledgeville, Georgia. The addressee was the wife of Charles Hart Olmstead (1837-1926), who was the Major (later Colonel) of the 1st Ga Inf and in command at Fort Pulaski near Savannah at the time of this cover. The cover is from Major Olmstead to his wife. There are other covers in the same correspondence. Cover is recorded in the Crown Census as SAV-022. Complete cover with just a little light foxing.
