CSA #57xu1a Milledgeville, Ga PAID 5 Provisional (wide space between “I” and “D” of “PAID”) 22 (month not apparent) 1861. Addressed to Jos Bolling Esq, Ringgold, Ga. Circular colorless embossed imprint on the backflap “Executive Department Georgia” indicating that the cover most likely originated at the governor’s office. This cover is listed in the Crown Census of Milledgeville provisional covers as MIL-046. Reduced at the right not affecting anything. Minor edge wear and light foxing.
