CSA #6xu6 Atlanta PAID 10 Provisional 16 OCT 1861. Military address to Capt B. C. Yancey F. D., Cobb’s Geo Legion, Yorktown, Virginia. Benjamin Cudsworth Yancey (1818-1891), Minister to Argentina under President Buchanan, was Capt of Co B Cavalry Battalion of Cobb’s Legion and promoted Major 11/15/1861. The “F. D.” in the address stands for “Fulton Dragoons” which was the local name of his company. This cover is listed in the Crown Census of Atlanta provisional covers as ATL-121. The envelope is high quality green lined commercial ladies stationery. Minor backflap opening tears, otherwise Very Fine.
