The cover is undated as to year and could be 1863 or 1864. Manuscript pencil notation on the cover “1864” but cannot be verified. The addressee was the wife of Elbert L. Wells of Columbus, Ga. Elbert L. Wells had service as a Sergt in Co C 17th Ga Inf 8/14/1861 - 5/3/1863. He had later service in Co A 19th Ga Batt St Guards beginning 7/8/1863 until 5/1/1864 when he was commissioned 1st Lt and transferred to Co D 1st Columbus City Ga Batt Inf. Very Fine Cover. $150.00
