FL260 Stampless Soldiers DUE cover with a partial strike of the Warrington, Fla CDS 3 JAN (1862) and the fancy woodcut POSTAGE DUE 5 circular handstamp Type G partially struck off the top of the cover. This cover is one of only 8 covers recorded from Warrington, Florida, with this fancy "Postage Due 5" Type G woodcut handstamp in the Briggs Census. Addressed to Mrs (?) Ann Cox, Burlison (Burleson) PO, Franklin County, Ala. Endorsed at left "From W. R. Cox private of the Fredonia (?) 24th Regt Miss Volunteers." The 24th Miss Inf was in Florida December 1861- March 1862. No information on a Pvt W. R. Cox in the 24th Miss Inf, but that is not unusual as Mississippi soldier's records are very poor at best. Cover with small reductions right and left with the right reduction just into the address. Still a very clean appearance with a seldom seen fancy postage due woodcut handstamp. $350.00
