FL228 CSA #11 (AD) (4-Margin) tied by a partial strike of the Madison C. H., Fla CDS (date not fully apparent). Addressed to Mrs. Mary Cumming, Warthens Store, Washington Co., Georgia. Very clean cover. Ex-Gallegher. The Briggs Census lists 17 covers from Madison Court House with the CSA #11 stamp.

The cover was sent by Hospital Steward David R. Cumming (1831-1904) of Washington County, Georgia, to his mother. David R. Cumming (1831-1904) enlisted as a Hospital Steward (date not given) and had service in the "12th GA Batt Light Artillery" which was assigned to the Department of South Carolina and Florida. His tombstone in Warthen, Washington County, Georgia, says "MD."  He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1859 but did not serve as a doctor or a surgeon. He apparently never married. After the war, he farmed and practiced medicine in Washington County, Georgia.
