Stampless cover with an excellent strike of the Tallahassee, Fla CDS and handstamp PAID 5(ms)  10 AUG (1861). This Tallahassee PAID 5(ms) is listed in the current CSA catalog as unsupported. This cover certainly supports the listing. Addressed to Mrs. Ann W. Habersham Care of Robgt Habersham & Son, Savannah, Georgia. A little light staining at the right otherwise a very presentable cover. Cover PAID 5(ms) not listed in the Brigg's Census. The addressee, Ann Wylly Adams Habersham (1795-1876), had a son Dr Joseph Clay Habersham (1829-1881), a graduate of Harvard Medical School, who served the Confederate Army as a Surgeon Major and as a Brigade Surgeon and later as a Post Surgeon at Savannah where he practiced medicine after the war. However, Dr Habersham was not the sender of this cover. The sender is not identified.
