FL208 CSA #7 Horz Pair (4-Margin) tied by the Quincy, Flor CDS 18 APR (1865). Coarse brown paper cover, which appears to be homemade, addressed to Mrs. J. W. Robertson Care of Dr. E. M. Allen, Cuthburt, Ga. Routing instruction at the lower left "via Albany." The original letter remains with the cover from the addressee's husband which confirms the 1865 yeardate. In the lengthy letter, the husband attempts to comfort his wife during hardships. The letter does have somewhat of a frantic tone to it, but it is difficult to read the handwriting. Would benefit from a transcription. Very late use nine days after the Appomattox surrender, and is currently believed to be the latest recorded Confederate use from Florida. The cover is listed in the Briggs census in his book on Florida Civil War postal history. This is the first time this cover has been offered for sale in almost 30 years. Ex- Morris Everett. Very clean cover. $1,500.00
