FL207 CSA #12c AD Greenish-Blue (margin irregular into the design on the right) tied by the Lake City, Fla CDS 27 JAN. Addressed to Miss Catherine McGeachy, St Pauls NC. Cover with a repaired lower right corner and reduced at the left where opened. Small piece missing from the top back flap which was used for the corner repair. Very clean appearing cover.

Catherine McGeachy (1835-1923) had a boyfirend, Duncan Alexander Buie (1833-1918), who served as a Sergt in the 3rd NC Artillery. They would marry after the war in 1866. His unit was never assigned to Florida but was in the Wilmington Cape Fear region of North Carolina. So his presence in Lake City, Fla cannot be confirmed. The addressee also had a brother, John David McGeachy (1842-1899), who served as a private in the 51st NC Inf. This unit was an ANV regiment and was never in Florida, so he could not have been the sender of this cover.
