FL206 CSA #7 Vert Pair (margin in at the left and with small faults) affixed on the reverse to seal the back flap (not damaged in opening) and tied by a very weak strike of an indecipherable town CDS (date not apparent). Coarse brown paper cover with a Military Address on the face of the cover to Mr. George W. Glenn, Quincy, Florida in care of Capt J. H. Til(l)er, Echols Artillery. On arrival in Quincy, the Quincy, Flor CDS 1 APR was applied to the front of the cover with a manuscript "Due 10." It is apparent that the Quincy postal clerk did not notice the stamps on the reverse and treated the cover as unpaid by assessing "Due 10" postage. Minor reduction at the left where opened not affecting anything. Minor staining, otherwise a very clean cover.

Echols Battery Ga Light Artillery was assigned to the Department of  South Carolina and Florida and was engaged at the Battle of Olustee in February 1864. Sgt G. W. Glenn was a member of Co C commanded by Capt John Hopson Tiller (1827-1900). Capt Tiller was from Oglethorpe, Ga, and the unit was raised in that area. So it is safe to assume that the cover originated from that part of Georgia.
