USA Star Die with Patent Lines and a handstamp "STAR" cancel with a somewhat weak but easily recognizable strike of the small single rim Autaugaville, Ala CDS 4 APR (1861) at the left USA Used in CSA Alabama. Addressed to Messers John T. Hardee & Co., Merchants, New Orleans, La. Believed to be 1 of only 4 recorded covers with this Autaugaville STAR cancel used in the Confederate period. Back flap opening tears with a small part of the back flap missing and an edge repair at the top right center. Still an overall very clean appearance. Ex-Marcus White Collection, Ex-Kaplan, Ex-Koppersmith Collection.
