CSA #2 H&L (4-Margin) tied by the Montgomery, Ala CDS 25 FEB 1862. Addressed to Honble J. J. Beauchamp, Macon, Noxubee County, Mississippi. What is interesting about this cover is that there is a partial handstamp at top center which appears most consistent with the Thomasville, Ga PAID 5 provisional  handstamp, but it is not very clear. This would indicate that perhaps the cover was prepared in advance at Thomasville but never used and somehow made its way to Montgomery where the cover wasultimately used. This is speculation of course, but the partial handstamp certainly appears to be period and has nothing to do with the Montgomery postal use. The original back has been reattached to a very clean appearance with an Extremely Fine CSA #2 H&L stamp.
