CSA #2 Pat (4-Margin) tied by the small double circle Mobile, Ala CDS (date not apparent). Addressed to Mrs. R. F. Inge, Eutaw, Greene County, Alabama. Very clean cover and a very nice stamp. The addressee was the wife of Richard Freer Inge (1830-1863, a lawyer by profession. He was most likely the sender of this cover. He entered service as a Captain in the 11th Ala Inf and was later transferred and promoted Lieut Col of the 18th Ala Inf (dates unknown). He died 9/23/1863 of wounds sustained at the Battle of Chickamauga a few days before.
