CSA #62x3 New Orleans 5c Brown Provisional USED (tight margin at the top) with a light strike of the RED double circle New Orleans River Mail CDS (date not apparent). Only a small handful of off-cover provisional stamps are recorded with this scarce red river mail postmark as it was struck in red only for a very limited two week period in mid-June 1861. Believed to have been used by Postmaster Riddell himself. Tiny thin at the top which does not detract. PF Certificate 1983 which only identifies the stamp and does not mention the postmark.
