CSA #62x3 New Orleans 5c Brown Provisional USED (margins tight on all sides) with the RED small double circle New Orleans River Mail CDS (date not apparent). Only a small handful of off-cover provisional stamps are recorded with this scarce red river mail postmark as it was struck in red only for a very limited two week period in mid-June 1861. Believed to have been used by Postmaster Riddell himself. Hinge remnants and thins. APS Certificate 2002. |
