19 AUG 2010 -- The 2010 CONFEDERATE STAMP
ALLIANCE Convention was held 12-15 AUG 2010 in Richmond, Virginia in conjunction with APS StampShow 2010. This was the 75th Diamond Anniversary Convention of the Confederate Stamp Alliance which was founded in 1935.
The 65th Southern Supper was
held Friday 13 AUG 2010 at the Commonwealth Club in Richmond which
served an
absolutely excellent dinner. In attendance at the Southern Supper
for the Diamond Anniversary were 160+ members and guests, the largest
number ever to attend a Southern Supper. Many thanks to
Regency-Superior Auctions for sponsoring the Mint Julip Hour prior to
the dinner, to Robert A. Siegel Auction
Galleries for sponsoring the dinner wine, to Schuyler J. Rumsey
Auctions for sponsoring the transportation, and to Phil
Warman, John L. Kimbrough MD, and Charles Hanselmann for
sponsoring the traditional CSA Hospitality Room. A very special thanks
to the convention hosts, Peter and Ethel Powell and William and Ginger
Shulleeta. General and Mrs. Powell hosted a fabulous
cocktail party at their home on the first evening of the convention for
the CSA members and guests in attendance. CSA President Trish

loaned the press for a display on the floor of the show. The Greater

the Dietz family.

The
Annual General
Membership Business Meeting was held Saturday 14 AUG 2010 with
President
Trish Kaufmann presiding. The Alliance is strong financially, and the
Diamond Anniversary Endowment Fund has exceeded all expections in
donations and pledges. Work on the new
Confederate States Catalog is progressing. No new target date for
publication has been established. Publication may very likely be
delayed until late 2011 or early 2012. Sites of future
meetings and conventions were announced with details to follow as they
become available. The full report of the General Membership Meeting
will appear in the next issue of the Confederate Philatelist in
accordance with the By-Laws.
