24 MAR 2006 -- The 2006 CONFEDERATE STAMP ALLIANCE Convention was held 17-19 MAR 2005 in New York City in conjunction with the ASDA Spring MegaShow. Approximately 35 CSA Members and Guests enjoyed the 61st traditional Southern Supper held Friday Night 17 MAR 2006 at Keens Chophouse in Manhattan. Many thanks to Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries for sponsoring the open bar during the social hour preceding the banquet. The meal and the surroundings at this prestigious location were fabulous. CSA newly elected President Col Jim Monroe presided. The following awards were presented --

  • The CSA Trophy was presented to Gen Tony Crumbley for his exhibit on CSA North Carolina Postal History. As this was the only CSA exhibit in the exhibition, no additional CSA exhibit awards were presented at this convention.
  • The Haydn-Meyer Award for Service was presented to Col Rex Felton.
  • The CP Writer's Award was presented to Gen Jerry Palazolo and Col William Parks.
  • The August Dietz Award for research and publishing was presented to Col Stephen Walske.
  • Ron Teffs as immediate past president was elevated to the honorary rank of General.
  • John L. Kimbrough MD for his years of overall service to the CSA was also elevated to the honorary rank of General.
The Annual General Membership Business Meeting was held Saturday 18 MAR 2006 with President Col Jim Monroe presiding.
  • The following locations were announced for future CSA Conventions and Mid-Year Gatherings --
    • Conventions -- Virginia Beach, Va (2007); Charlotte NC (2008); Nashville, Ten (2009); Richmond, Va (2010 which will be the 75th Anniversary Convention).
    • Mid-Year Gatherings -- Jacksonville, Fla (2006); Memphis, Ten (2007); Charleston SC (2008); Wilmington NC (2009); Griffin, Ga (2010).
  • The full report of the General Membership Meeting will appear in the next issue of the Confederate Philatelist in accordance with the By-Laws.
