26 OCT 2021 -- The 2021 Civil War Philatelic Society
Convention was held 22-24 OCT 2021 in Tysons Corner, Virginia, in conjunction
with the NAPEX 2021 Show. The 75th Southern Supper was
held Friday 22 OCT 2021 at the American Prime steak house with 41 members and guests
in
attendance
and with President Larry Baum presiding. Thanks go to
the
convention host, Randy Smith, who planned and coordinated the entire event.
The following awards
were
presented:
- The CWPS Trophy was
presented to Ronald E. Majors.
- The Haydn-Myer
Award for Service was presented to Dwayne Littaur for his legal counsel
and support during the transition to the Civil War Philatelic Society.
- The August Dietz
Award was presented to Richard F. Winter for his research on North
Carolina Confederate postal history and post office data, as published
on the North Carolina Postal History website.
- The
CP Writers Award was presented to Kevin Anderson for his article Confederate Postal Markings of Petersburg, Virginia (CP 3rd Qrtr 2020) and Steve Feller for his article Thomas De La Rue: Confederate Stamp Printer (CP 4th Qrtr 2020)

The
Annual General
Membership Business Meeting was held Saturday 23 OCT 2021 with
President Larry Baum presiding. The Alliance is strong
financially. Sites
of possible
future
meetings and conventions were announced with details to follow as they
become available. John Walker of England was promoted to the honorary
rank of
General. He was not able to attend the convention, so his medal will be
award at the next convention. A new slate of officers and trustees will
take office 1 JAN 2022.The full report of the General Membership
Meeting in cluding the voting results for the new slate of officers
will appear in the next issue of The Civil War Philatelist in
accordance with the By-Laws.
