allowed to send letters with postage due. Professionally done edge

William Lafayette Scott (1828-1872) from Guilford County NC, a lawyer and graduate of the University of North Carolina, entered service as Capt of Co M 21st NC Inf 6/8/1861 and promoted Lt Col 2/1/1862. He was dropped during the April 1862 reorganization and saw no further service. J. R. McLean represented the 6th NC Congressional District, which included Guilford County, in the First Confederate Congress.
