|VA2412||CSA #12 (AD) (4-Margin) tied by the BLACK Petersburg, Va CDS 17 FEB (1865). Military Address to Mr. Chas P. Abernethy, Co D 1st NC Cavalry, Army Northern Va. Private Charles P. Abernathy enlisted in Co D 1st NC Cavalry from Lenoir County NC on 3/10/1864. He is listed as wounded on 8/15/1864 (no details given and no further record). Apparent turned cover with an address on the inside Miss M. S. Johnson, Happy Home with no postal markings. Happy Home is a listed post office in Burke County, North Carolina. Receiving docketing on the reverse states “Recg Feb 18th 1864” which is an incorrect year as the year must be 1865 because of the use of the balck Petersburg postmark and the known enlistment of Private Abernathy in March 1864. Cover with some minor edge faults and a little overall soiling but still quite presentable and a nice 1865 military usage.||$100.00|
