CSA #11 (AD) two singles in two very different color shades paying the double rate (both stamps 4-Margin) tied together and to the cover by the Blue Petersburg, Va CDS 30 JUL 1864 (dated the day of the Battle of the Crater). From the Blackford Correspondence addressed to Mrs. Wm M. Blackford, Lynchburg, Virginia. Cover most likely sent by the addressee’s son, Lancelot M. Blackford who was an officer serving as an advocate in the military court system of Longstreet’s Corps at this time. Very Fine.
