 CSA #12 (AD) Horz Strip of 3 (margins close left, right, and bottom) tied by two strikes of the Rapid Ann Station, Va CDS 8 JUN.  Orange paper cover with a somewhat faded but still legible address to Miss Cora De M. Pritchartt, Richmond, Va.  Cora Demovelle Pritchert’s (1840-1927) boyfriend  was Lt James Harrison Williams (1836-1903) of Ashby’s Va Horse Light Artillery.  Lt Williams very likely is the one who sent the cover as their correspondence begins in 1862.  They married in 1871.  Lt Williams was a graduate of the University of Va law School and in 1864 was detailed to serve as the Judge Advocate General of the ANV Cavalry Corps.  Cover has been professionally restored along the left side and at the right lower corner with the original top backflap also restored and reattached.  The restoration gives the cover an overall Very Fine appearance and ready to exhibit. Scarce triple rate usage on a standard sized envelope.
