| CSA #13 (4-Margin) tied by the usual somewhat weak but easily recognizable strike of the RED Petersburg, Va CDS 18 SEP (1864). Addressed to Mr. S. M. Carter, Milledgeville, Georgia. Top backflap is missing, and the cover was most likely professionally cleaned some time in the past to a Very Fine appearance. This stamp with a RED postmark is not commonly seen. Ex-DuPuy. |
