CSA #11 (AD) (4-Margin) tied by the black Lynchburg, Va CDS 10 SEP. Coarse paper cover which appears to be a homemade adversity cover with a
Military Address to George W. Sites, AAA General, Gordonsville
Hospital Dept (Va). George Walter Sites, a 27 year old newspaper editor,
enlisted as a private in Co D 21st NC Inf. On 11/7/1861, he was detailed
to hospital duty and on 6/12/1862 was appointed as the secretary to the Chef
Medical Officer of the Army of Northern Virginia. Cover is complete but
shows some overall light foxing and a light water stain at the left, but still an
overall very presentable cover with an excellent hospital address.
