VA1248 USA Star Die with the Cobham, Va CDS 11 JUL (1861 by period docketting). The embossing is pen-cancelled but there is no indication of a CSA rate even though the date definitely puts this cover into the CSA Postal Service period. Cover either went through without CSA postage or the postmaster simply neglected to put the CSA postage handstamps on the cover. Interesting usage which is most likely adversity. From the Franklin Davis Staunton, Va Correspondence. Minor backflap damage but otherwise a Very Fine appearance. $150.00
