VA1205 CSA #1 Stone 1 Horz Pair (stamps with irregular margins) tied by the Comorn, Va CDS 30 Sep (1862) with a second strike of the same CDS to the left. Orange paper cover addressed to G. W. Lewis Esqr Senate of Virginia Richmond. Comorn was a very small post office in King George County and does not appear on current maps of Virginia. This cover represents very late usage for these Stone 1 stamps and also scarce CSA usage for this part of Virginia. It is distinctly unusual to see CSA postal activity from this location after March 1862 because of almost constant Union occupation. Cover with missing backflap but is otherwise clean and quite attractive. $425.00
