RT5 Turned Cover -- 1st Use (inside): USA #26 Grid Cancel and also tied by the Savannah, Ga CDS 25 JAN 1861 (Georgia Independent State) addressed to Mr. Winston Stephens, Welaka, Fla. The inside use also has a small Advertising Corner Card for “Erwin and Hardee, Factors, Savannah, Ga.” 2nd Use (outside): CSA #12 (AD) tied by the Lake City, Fla CDS 25 NOV (1863) and addressed to Mrs. Winston Stephens, Thomasville, Georgia Care Mr. Jerrod Everette. Winston J. T. Stephens (1829-1864) enlisted 10/19/1861 as a 1st Lieut Co B 2nd Fla Cav and was promoted Capt 4/19/1862. He was killed at Cedar Creek (Jacksonville, Fla) 3/1/1864.
