USA 3c Red 1854 Nesbitt Postal Stationery #U10 with the St. Martinsville, La CDS 9 MAR (1861) to Montgmery, Alabama. US Mail Service within the Confederate States from Confederate Louisiana to Confederate Alabama. The name of the addressee has been partially obliterated as was the common practice of the families when they sold family covers to collectors in the late 1800's and early 1900's. On arrival in Montgomery, the cover was forwarded back to St Martinsville, La with the addition of the Montgomery, Ala CDS 17 MAR 1861 and manuscript "Ford 3c" to assess the forwarding fee. The Union forwarding fee was 3c. Very Fine. Ex-Bogg, Ex-Kaufmann.
