GA476 Macon, Ga Drop Letter with manuscript “2” indicating the 2c drop letter rate and no postmark which was the way these drop letters were often handled. Yellow paper cover addressed to Col Jno B. Lamar Macon, Geo. Col John B. Lamar was a volunteer aide to Brig-Gen Howell Cobb and was actually Howell Cobb’s Brother-in-Law. Col Lamar was mortally wounded at Crampton’s Gap on 14 SEP 1862 and died the next day. Very Fine. $250.00
