FL84 Handstamp PAID 5 with the Warrington, Fla CDS Dietz Type IA with a SEP (1861) date.  Manuscript “pd 5 W. S. C.” at the top right which are the initials of the sender (William S. Chapman).  From the known Chapman Correspondence addressed to Mrs. Kate L. Chapman, Talladega, Ala from her husband Lieut William S. Chapman of Co D 1st Ala Inf which was organized in Pensacola in April 1861.  Lieut Chapman had later service as Capt of Co G 31st Ala Inf and did survive the war.  Cover very slightly reduced at the top and part of the backflap missing.  Otherwise a Very Fine appearance. $350.00
