CBCS7 CSA #4 Stone 2 Plated as Position 40 USED (margin just touches on the right) with a light town CDS not otherwise identified. Also canceling the stamp as a handstamp “6cts.” This handstamp was a Union mark as there was no 6c rate in the Confederacy. Most likely this stamp was on an early through-the-lines cover on which Union 6cts postage due was assessed. Another explanantion might be that the CSA postmaster still had an old Union handstamp available and simply used it to cancel the stamp. Can think of no other explanantions as to how a Union handstamp can show up on a CSA stamp. Stamp with small thins and one tiny pinhole. SOLD
