The manuscript at the lower left corner is a routing instruction (“X Anchor”) for Cross Anchor Spatanburgh District SC. Very Fine cover with just a little light foxing and was included in the exhibit as an excellent example of this straight line cancel. This cover was used as an illustration on Page 5 of Gen Bush’s Fancy and Unusual Cancel book and used again as an illustration on Page 273 of the Collector’s Guide to Confederate Philately. SOLD
