CB2 CSA #7 (2) (Two 4-Margin singles arranged to appear as a pair) tied by a beautiful full strike of the Welaka, Fla large double ring dateless CDS with manuscript “Feb 22 (1863).” Full Military Address to Capt Winston Stephens Co B 2nd Fla Cav, Camp Finigan, Fla. Winston J. T. Stephens (1829-1864) was commissioned 1st Lt 10/19/1861 and promoted Captain 4/19/1862. He was killed at Cedar Creek (Jacksonville, Fla) 3/1/1864. Cover shows some light water staining at left but with beautiful stamps and a superb strike of a scarce Florida CDS. Cover originally included in the exhibit to show the very unusual, very distinctive, and very scarce Welaka, Fla large double ring CDS canceling the stamps. This cover was used as an illustration on Page 70 of Gen Bush’s Fancy and Unusual Cancel book. SOLD
