CDS 12 FEB 1862. Folded Letter Complete on blue paper from the
Manigault Correspondence addressed to Mr. Louis Manigault, Lanier
House, Macon, Geo. The letter is datelined "East Hermitage Savannah Back
River Febr 12th 1862." Very Fine.
East
Hermitage was a plantation on the Savannah River owned by the
addressee, Louis Manigault (1828-1899). The letter is one page
and
only talks about the weather in the area and some plantation business
but mentions no slaves. The letter is signed by William Capers
(1816-1864) who was the plantation overseer and related to the
Manigaults by marriage. |
