HB12 CSA 12e AD Officially Perforated 12 1/2 (perfed on all 4 sides with perfs just touching on the left) tied by the small single rim Okolona, Miss CDS 8 NOV 1863. Addressed to J. N Chambers Esq, Jackson, Louisiana. Jackson is in the part of Louisiana that is east of the Mississippi River, so the cover is not Trans-Mississippi postal use. The cover has been somewhat restored by adding backing and a top back flap. The cover has a very presentable appearance and a very nice officially perforated stamp.

Capt Joseph Nicholson Chambers (1799-1874), a West Point graduate Class of 1818, served in the army as an engineer. He resigned from the army in 1823. His rank stems from his time in the US Army and is not associated with the Confederate Army. After leaving the army, he spent the rest of his life as a planter and merchant in East Felciana Parish, Louisiana.
